Generals take home a second straight title in the event. MIDLOTHIAN –– The Washington & Lee University golf team fired a final day 6-over-par 294 total to post a four-shot victory and win its second straight Virginia Division III Championship on Monday afternoon at Independence Golf Club.
The Generals turned in a 19-over-par 595 (301-292) aggregate to best Randolph-Macon College by four strokes. W&L was paced by sophomore Ted Williams (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edwards School), who took home medalist honors with an even-par 144 (69-75) total. In addition to Williams (pictued left), also contributing scores on the final day were freshman Nathaniel James (Kellar, Texas/Kellar), senior Jed Johnson (Darien, Conn./Taft School) and sophomore Anthony Zappin (Huntington, W.Va./St. Joseph Central), who each delivered 73s. James, Johnson and Zappin each tied for seventh in the overall championship.
Senior Ryan Castle (Summerville, S.C./Summerville) paced Randolph-Macon, matching the low round of the championship with a final round 69 to go along with a first day 75 for a 1-over-par 145 aggregate.
